Reiki,  better known as "Energy Healing", is a gentle, non-invasive Japanese healing modality founded upon ancient energetic healing principles that enhance the body's natural healing whilst re-energising and promoting wellness. Traditionally used to help ease emotional, mental and physical ailments, by focusing on the persons energy anatomy.

Just as the human body has a physical anatomy, the subtle body also has an energy anatomy.  Your energy anatomy consists of your aura which has several different layers and your "chakras" or energy centres. Each chakra sits just outside the physical body and correlates to the function of specific organs and varying emotions.

While every individual's physical body has the ability to heal, our chakras can become blocked due to stagnant energy being stored in our bodies from chronic stress, anxiety, toxins, trauma, grief, self-doubt, fear and the like.

Left unmanaged, this can oftentimes lead to imbalance, illness and dis-ease.

Reiki is an effective means of both preventing and combating these imbalances as it helps to process and release heavy emotions, negative patterns and conditioning in order to restore the body back to its natural healing capabilities.

What is Reiki?

A bit of History

The healing modality itself was developed by Mikao Usui, a Japanese  Tendai Buddhist in 1922 following a 21 day solo retreat of meditation fasting and prayer on Mount Kurama. The Japanese translation of the word reiki itself “rei” translates to “unseen or spiritual” and “ki” translates to “energy or life force”

The English translation is  "universal life force energy" and is the true essence and barometer of holistic health.  Ancient healing traditions such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Qi-Gong, Tai Chi and Acupuncture developed the knowledge that holistic health is directly correlated to an individual's flow of "ki" or "qi" in Chinese and "prana" in Sanskrit, thousands of years before Quantum Physics validated that everything is essentially made of vibrating energy. Providers of these healing traditions were very aware that mind, body and spirit are intricately connected and that in addition to the physical body, every individual has a "subtle" or energetic body that also requires routine maintenance to achieve health and vitality.
